One of our high school co-principals, Amy Rex, has been selected as Vermont’s representative for the Lawrence O’Toole Award through the Nellie Mae Education Foundation. Vermont (Harwood) will compete with representatives from the other New England states for the grand prize of a $100,000 grant for the school.

Help Harwood Win a $100,000 Grant
At Harwood Union High School in Vermont, students are not only taking an active role in designing their own education, but they are leading efforts to change systems and make sure that student voices are heard and acted upon. As Harwood's Co-principal, Amy Rex has served as a champion of student voice and student-centered learning, leading efforts to develop personalized learning opportunities for every student.
Amy has been nominated for the Nellie Mae Education Foundation’s 5th Annual Lawrence W. O’Toole Award. This honor is bestowed upon a leader who has exhibited great leadership through innovation in moving student-centered approaches to learning forward in New England. One educational leader from each of the New England states has been nominated.
Each nominee will have an online profile on the Students at the Center Hub, where visitors will be able to vote between rdat – . This year, the Nellie Mae Foundation has expanded the voting options. Individuals can cast their vote by email or text message - 1 vote per email address or text number. Voting instructions will be placed on the Students at the Center Hub (studentsatthecenterhub.org/vo
The winner (nominee with the most votes by the end of the contest) will be presented with the $100,000 grant for their respective school at a ceremony to follow.
