We survived!! The first 100 days of school has come and gone and we're still standing & smiling. Thatcher Brook Primary School is a busy place even in the middle of the winter. We experienced a few bumps at the beginning but now Sports 4 Life is well underway and students are thoroughly enjoying their skiing, riding, skating, swimming, and tumbling experiences. Our Thursday cross country program is thriving with over 50 students participating in this program run by Tom Thurston. Many of our classes take advantage of all the cross country equipment we have and go out during the day to ski. The TBPS version of the luge is evident at recess time with students of all ages taking advantage of the short hills on our playground.
While the students are enjoying winter activities our staff is "plowing" through the seven weeks of instructional time between breaks with an eye on the end of the second trimester in March. In addition to their instructional/classroom responsibilities the teaching staff has been engaged in professional conversations around grade level & classroom data, discipline & PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support), SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) which will take the place of NECAPs, and finally MTSS (Multitiered Systems of Support) for all students. Too many acronyms to keep track of sometimes!!
We all head off on Friday for a well deserved break and will be right back at it on Wednesday, March 5th.
